Janice Rivera is Offbook

Much like an artist goes beyond paint to convey an image, a cinematic story crafter goes beyond spliced images to create an engaging narrative. It’s designing an experience that’s unlike any other medium.

I’ve produced award-winning work for clients ranging from Fortune 500 corporations to nimble nonprofits. I enjoy working both collaboratively and independently, and can take the reins at any phase in the creative process.

I love what I do. Every project is an opportunity to merge my talents in music and performance arts with my skills in electronic media. I seek the heart of a story and align its elements in a way that is relevant to the subject, is meaningful to the audience, and exceeds client expectations.

There’s no one way to tell a story. My goal is to find as many as possible.

Why Offbook?

The term "off book" is familiar to anyone involved in theatre. It is that point in time during rehearsals when actors need to come prepared to work without their script in hand, meaning they know their parts well enough to start the deeper process of developing their role. When you are off book, you are freer to explore more depth, improvise, react and respond in more meaningful ways. There is a confidence and excitement to reach a higher level of engagement. This is true for other art forms as well and particularly the storytelling in film and video. It is a wonderful life metaphor. When you are off book, anything is possible.
